Jim Traficant released from federal prison

Former Congressman Jim Traficant was released from federal prison Wednesday morning.

Traficant served 7 years in federal custody for bribery and racketeering.

Michelle Nicks was outside the prison from around 7 a.m. Tuesday and was the only local reporter waiting outside for Traficant's release.

Traficant ignored our crew when he came out of the prison, dressed casually in shorts with his hair in a ponytail.

He is expected to take a short vacation with his wife, Tish, and possibly some family members immediately upon his release.

Traficant will be required to report to a parole officer regularly.
