The former pastor of a Cornersburg church pleaded guilty Thursday morning to a misdemeanor assault charge.

Dale Giffin, 59, resigned as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church last year.

Following his resignation, an investigation into allegations that he allegedly raped a female parishioner began.

"My career and livelihood are gone," Giffin said at the hearing.

He was sentenced to a six month suspended sentence and 30 days of house arrest.
