Inmate found dead in Trumbull county jail

TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio- An inmate at the Trumbull county jail was found dead Wednesday night in an apparent suicide.

Police said Peter Brister, Jr. was found at 1:34 p.m. with a bed sheet around his neck, indicating that he hanged himself.

Officials attempted CPR and used a defibrillator on Brister, but were unable to revive him.

Brister was booked into the jail earlier this week on a probation violation.

Don Guarino, chief of operations for the Trumbull county sheriff's office, said all the proper procedures were followed and that Brister underwent a routine suicide screening when he was booked that showed no indication that he was at risk for committing suicide.

Brister would have turned 26 Thursday.
