YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Mahoning county's budget dilemma is now leading to rolling furloughs in the prosecutor's office.
County Prosecutor Paul Gains announced Thursday that he will cut the hours of his entire staff to keep up with declining revenues.
Gains says his office budget will be cut by 20 percent or 560 thousand dollars this year so he plans to cut 15 percent of the pay of everyone in his office.
He is asking his employees to take six hours a week as a rolling furlough.
When they take time off will depend on what they are working on.
Gains says he hope the courthouse will cut their hours by one day every two weeks to help save the county money.
Gains also says he will reimburse the county 15% of his pay as well.
The cuts will begin next week and will continue for as long as they are needed.
