STRUTHERS, Ohio- The Struthers police department has a new top cop.
Captain Roy "Tim" Roddy begins work as the next chief of the department Friday.
"I want to strive to better the department, to work on the goals that Chief Norris has set and just try to make it a better police department for the city and for he police department itself," Roddy said.
Mayor Terry Stocker said he looks forward to working with Roddy in the future.
"In all of the years that Tim's been here, he's always proven that he has great leadership abilities and we look forward to some of his innovative ideas and maybe changes that you think are needed here within th police department and, once again we're real comfortable having Tim and congratulations," he said.
Roddy has been with the department since 1984 and will take over for retiring chief Robert Norris.
