Final Cobalt means two parts suppliers will close

LORDSTOWN, Ohio- The end of the Chevrolet Cobalt will also mean the end of the line for two local parts suppliers.

Faurecia and Lear Interiors will both shut down as a result of General Motors' Lordstown plant's shift to production of the Cruze next month.

Faurecia made exhaust systems for the Cobalt and the Pontiac G-5 and Lear made headliners for the Cobalt.

The 20 employees at Faurecia and 38 employees at Lear will all work their last day at the companies Wednesday, when the last Cobalt is scheduled to roll off the assembly line.

Stacie Tong, director of communications for Faurcia North America, said in a statement that the company will try to ease the transition for the employees at its Lordstown plant.

"Faurecia also will work with federal authorities to ensure that displaced employees have options available to them for training and job placement," the statement said.

The company will also look into whether or not the workers are eligible for Trade Adjustment Agreement benefits.

Interior parts for the Cruze will be made by Comprehensive Logistics.
