AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - So far there are no suspects in the murder of a man in Austintown and the wounding of another.
On Saturday, a suspect opened fire on two men in a car outside the Westchester Executive Apartments.
Austintown Police Chief Robert Gavalier says "Apparently someone walked up to the driver's side and shot the driver several times. It appeared while the driver was being shot the passenger tried to exit the vehicle and was shot in the back. He was able to make it to another apartment, knocked on the door and told people in the apartment to call 911."
The victim in the drivers seat, who was killed, was 31-year-old Odomie Wellington. The victim who got away and who is in critical condition is 21-year-old Alekum Mc Lendon from Youngstown.
Court records show Odomie Wellington spent three years in prison for aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and felonious assault with a firearm specification after he was found guilty of shooting 13 month old Kyreese Hayman in a home in Warren in 2000.
Alekum McLendon pled down charges of hit skip in Boardman court and was given community control for carrying a concealed weapon when prohibited from doing so in 2009.
