First female firefighter dies at 53

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio- The first career female firefighter hired in the state of Ohio who established her career in Youngstown has passed.

Sharyl Fraiser Everett died early Thursday Morning at the age of 53.

She was appointed to the Youngstown Fire Department in 1981 under chief Charles O'nesti. Everett was promoted to the rank of lieutenant inspector in 1991 and retired in 2009.

Calling hours for Sharyl Fraiser Everett are scheduled for Thursday morning from 11 a.m. until 12:50 p.m. at the Everlife Worship Center in Youngstown. Funeral services will follow.
