Fate of Lawrence County racetrack and casino could be clearer on Tuesday

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pennsylvania - A special meeting will be held Tuesday morning to determine the fate of a proposed racetrack and casino in Lawrence County.

The Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission will decide whether or not to transfer a The Valley View Downs harness racing license from Bankrupt Centaur, LLC to its new owner American Harness, LLC.

Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogler tells 21 News one of three outcomes is expected from the meeting. The state could approve the transfer, deny it or approve the license transfer with some new conditions.

Once the harness racing license is approved, American Harness would then have to apply for a license to operate a casino with the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission.
