Kelly Pavlik talks about his frustration with Top Rank and about his future plans

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – There is still a buzz the day after Valley boxer Kelly Pavlik canceled his fight Saturday against Darryl Cunningham at the Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown.

The former middleweight champion is speaking out over his decision, sort of. --Pavlik tells www.maxboxing.com that he pulled out of Saturday's fight because of his displeasure with Top Rank's contract.

Pavlik says he's taken less money for previous "bigger" fights and felt Top Rank turned their back on him for this bout with Darryl Cunningham.

Pavlik said, "Top Rank faltered, along with agent Cameron Duncan. If they would've told me two to three weeks ago the amount of money and what they're paying me, then I would've said, you know what, I'm going to cancel the fight."

As far as his future, Pavlik is still under a contract with Top Rank for another year and is ready to sit. He said, "I haven't lost any money. I don't lose money and I don't need to fight no more. Until I get the fights that I want, the big fights, and they pay me what I'm worth, then I'll take them."

Pavlik also told the website that Jack Loew remains in his corner and says his relationship with Top Rank is "icy" at best.
