BOARDMAN, Ohio - The start of the high school football season is a little over two weeks away.
Shocking developments from the Boardman football team, senior Dane Hammond, considered one of the best wide receivers in the Mahoning Valley, is no longer with the Spartans football program.
21 Sports confirmed his departure with Boardman's Athletic Director Dave Smercansky.
Last year, Hammond had 46 receptions for 615 yards and a half dozen touchdowns.
The first team all federal league player has some Division I schools interested him. Speculation is that he'll transfer to another area high school.
Hammond posted on his Facebook page that he'll be attending Warren Harding High School.
