YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - They are one of the most storied and successful programs in the Valley, but after an eight year run that saw the Irish play in four state title games, Ursuline High School will now begin the process of finding a new football coach.

Dan Reardon has resigned from his post as head football coach of the Irish citing family reasons for his decision.

Reardon began his tenure at Ursuline back in 2004 and over eight seasons he amassed a 72-29 record with five playoff appearances, four trips to the state finals and three state titles.

Last year the Irish became one of only six schools in the state to win three consecutive state titles.

Reardon met with his team on Thursday to give them the news. He tells 21 Sports he wouldn't trade his time with Irish for anything.

"You know, I think just the magnitude of the Ursuline and Mooney rivalry, win or lose, those have always been great games. Certainly I will never forget that. The state championship games that we were fortunate enough to play in. Winning those and having a chance to compete in those. It's something that very few coaches and kids ever have a chance to do. To be able to do it multiple times certainly is memorable," Reardon said.
