LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Fire crews converged on the GM Lordstown complex Thursday afternoon, responding to reports of a fire at the paint shop.
Fire crews answered a call for a fire on the upper level of the east plant.
Plant spokesperson Tom Mock tells 21 News the evacuation alarm went off around 2:15 p.m.
Most of the production staff is off this week, but the two to three hundred workers who were inside evacuated safely.
"We have everybody back inside the plant at this time. Our plan is to resume production Sunday night with our third shift. We do have several hundred people here this week working on maintenance projects, on office work and we are resuming normal operations at this time," Mock said.
Lordstown firefighters are trying to determine what caused the small fire.
