Youngstown City Council selects a new vendor for the Covelli Centre

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - You might see some changes the next time you attend a game or a concert at the Covelli Centre.

On Wednesday night, Youngstown City Council voted to change vendors.

Centerplate is being replaced by JAC Management, the company that already oversees the centers day to day operations.

The mayor says the move allows a lot more flexibility. "By doing it in house, we control it, we're flexible. We can have some of our local vendors maybe have a local vendor's night; they come in and sell whatever they're selling. There are a lot of things we can do that we can't do with Centerplate," said Mayor Charles Sammarone.

City leaders say they will receive more of the food and beverage profits under the new deal with JAC.

The move won't become official until the state approves the liquor license change.
