YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - In a shocking move, the man credited with restoring integrity to the Mahoning County Engineer's office is now withdrawing from the race.
Dick Marsico says he was surprised and disappointed when he didn't receive the Democratic Party's endorsement over the weekend.
So after 15 years on the job, Marsico has decided to withdraw from the March primary, and has offered to aid in the transition that will be needed if newcomer Pat Ginnetti wins the election.
Ginnetti received the party's endorsement, but the question is why didn't Marsico's experience on the job, win out?
Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman Dave Betras says, "I just think that after so many years people want change and they want a fresh set of eyes on things and I don't think it was anything against Dick Marsico. He's a stand-up guy."
Newcomer Ginnetti says he's worked with Marsico on various projects before and welcomes his help.
