Warren to celebrate mayor's inauguration

WARREN, Ohio - Saturday will be a day of celebration in Warren as the city inaugurates its first black mayor.

Various events will be held around the city for incoming mayor Doug Franklin who was elected last November.  They include a prayer breakfast and inaugural ball.

All of the events will be free and open to the public except the charity inaugural ball which is  $50 per person.

The day will begin with a prayer breakfast at 8:00 a.m. at The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Local pastors and community members will be in attendance during the breakfast.

Mayor Franklin will then stop at the Warren Public Library at 10:00 a.m. to talk with children. There will be two separate times to talk with the mayor.   The first one at 10:00 a.m. will be with children ages 6-12 and 11:00 a.m. will be with teenagers. Mayor Franklin plans to discuss the community and education in the city with the teenagers.

Closing out the day, a charity inaugural ball will be held at the Packard Music Hall at 6:00 p.m. A black tie affair, tickets are priced at $50.00 per person, with all proceeds being donated to two charities of Mayor Franklin's choice.
