YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Democrats from the 17th Congressional District have elected delegates who will represent the Valley at the Democratic National Convention.
Seventy seven candidates vied for 12 spots; six men, six women and one woman alternate.
Their jobs will be to vote on party platforms at this summer's convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman Dave Betras said now that it looks like the GOP candidate will be Mitt Romney, efforts for President Obama's re-election campaign are taking shape.
"We're going out. We're talking to voters and engaging them and talking about the issues and talking about the values, and who is better to lead the country in the next four years," Betras said.
Elected male delegates are State Representatives Bob Hagan and Tom Letson, Tim Callion, John Filak, George Freeman and Sean McKinney.
Elected female delegates are Deborah Bindas, Jaledah Aslam, State Senator Capri Cafaro, Judith Puskar, Tara Samples and alternate Charlene Allen.
