A hot Saturday afternoon ends tragically for a young man boating on Mosquito Lake.
Around 5:50 Saturday evening the Mecca Township Fire Department was called to a drowning at the lake.
According to authorities two men had been fishing on the boat when one of them decided to jump into the water because he was hot, but he never came back up.
The body of 21 year old Eli Miller, Junior of Middlefield was found just before nine tonight after crews from several agencies dragged the lake.
Lt. David Dunbar with the Mecca Fire Department says the water was only 8 feet deep.
"It's really, really hot. The water is 78-degrees so it's a bit cooler so if you jump in automatically you get that system shock. So it's going to throw you into a little bit of a shock and then you're going to start to panic and go down. The big thing is, wear a safety vest. wear a life jacket."
This is the first drowning on Mosquito Lake in two years.
