BOARDMAN, Ohio - Despite the cancellation of a scheduled fundraiser, the campaign to save a local ice skating rink has not frozen over.
A skate-a-thon was planned for April 27 at the Boardman Ice Zone but was canceled in light of a schedule conflict.
However, Skip Mackall said that the event will be rescheduled and tickets will still be on sale.
The owner of Boardman's Ice Zone says the rink will permanently close on May 15th.
William Weimer, Vice President of BJ Alan Company which owns the rink, told 21 News that the venue is not making money.
Weimer says the Ice Zone will be put up for sale.
