Lasers helping patients eliminate unwanted wrinkles, fine lines and acne scaring

HOWLAND, Ohio - Acne is a common problem facing teens and adults alike.

For Niles-native Jennifer Lastic her acne seemed to only get worse with age and unfortunately she hasn't had much luck controlling it.

"I am looking forward to this. Hopefully, this is going to be my last option and best option," Lastic said.

Jennifer is visiting with Dr. Adam Cash who recently began treating patients with a Sciton laser to hopefully get her acne and scarring under control.

"This is a permanent fix and in fact if she does elect to go on with more than one treatment the effects are additive," Dr. Cash said.

Dr. Cash says results can be noticed after one treatment. Although, three treatments are recommended for maximum results, which are achieved by passing the laser across the face three times. The first two passes remove the top layer of skin. The third stimulates new collagen deep under the skin.

"Generally it treats these irregular skin edges from acne, but more so it was developed because of facial aging, fine lines, wrinkles, even some deep wrinkles and volume loss," said Dr. Cash.

On top of that, Dr. Cash says it helps treat brown spots, age spots, sun spots and redness.

Dr. Cash says patients will feel some discomfort during the procedure. For up to three days after treatment, patients typically use over-the-counter medication to manage any discomfort. Dr. Cash says patients usually work within 3 to 5 days.
