Former YSU football player fatally shot in Akron

AKRON, Ohio - A former Youngstown State University football player is shot to death in Akron.

23-year-old Paris Wicks II was fatally shot behind a convenience store at the Lovers Lane Market in Akron last Thursday.

Akron police tell 21 News that they have charged a 15-year old male with aggravated murder, robbery and felonious assault.

25 year old David Phillips was also arrested. He is charged with aggravated murder and complicity to committ murder.  Phillips remains in the Summit County Jail.

Wicks was a running back for the Penguins in 2008 and 2009.

His father was also a football standout.  Paris Wicks, was inducted in to the Youngstown State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992.
