POLAND, Ohio - Representatives from area fire departments joined friends and family on Friday to say goodbye to longtime Western Reserve Join Fire District Chief Edwin "Sonny" Chinowth.

Chinowth succumbed to cancer at Hospice House, surrounded by his family last weekend.

Following funeral services at the Poland United Methodist Church, Chief Chinowith's remains were transported by a fire truck to Riverside Cemetery.

The funeral procession included vehicles and personnel from several fire departments.

The entourage passed beneath an arch formed by two ladder trucks.

Chinowth served various positions with the Poland Township Fire Department, including chief, since 1959 and served as the newly formed fire district's chief from 1985 to his retirement in 1997.

"Sonny" Chinowth was 77 years-old.
