YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Primary elections are just around the corner and some candidates received  party endorsements, but not everyone's happy.

As the Democratic Precinct Committee Persons endorse the party's choice for election, there was an upset with a current sitting Judge.

Judge Mark Belinky began his 3 minute speech to precinct committee persons with a little bit of humor saying, " I filed my petitions, and all hell broke lose." But when the vote was tallied with equipment from Turning Technology, Judge Belinky the incumbent had the fewest, 40 votes.  Belinky expressed his disappointment.

Judge Belinky said, "I don't think the precinct committee people realize how complex issues in probate court are. He said that there is no better running probate court in the state so he thought he had earned the party's endorsement.

Reporter Janet Rogers asked Judge Belinky if he believed the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and FBI raid on his office had an impact on the party endorsement.

Belinky said, "Yes, my personal problems have had an effect."  The Probate Judge said he is concerned for his re-election, but says if he can resolve his problems he believes voters will elect him to another term.

Attorney Susan Maruca won the Democratic Party's endorsement with 110 votes.  Maruca said, "This isn't about politics, it is about families who are  facing grief or a crisis with someone needing help for their family." She said, "In a crisis people need to have someone they trust, and who is there for them in probate court."

Attorney Sammarone who received 50 votes says he believes he is the best candidate with extensive probate and guardianship experience and he intends to remain in the race and work to get the votes of the people.

Party Chairman David Betras says the party is behind Maruca. Betras says the party will take the decision to voters, adding the party will help provide assets to help Maruca win the election.  He said, Susan Maruca is the endorsed Democratic candidate.
