Multi vehicle accident on I-80 in Mercer County

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. - Weather conditions contributed to a multiple vehicle accident that shutdown a portion of Interstate 80 in Mercer County on Thursday.

The pile-up happened in the eastbound lanes about a mile from the Route 19 Mercer exit.

It forced the closing of the eastbound lanes for about two hours until vehicles involved in the crash could be moved.

Pennsylvania State Police could not confirm the number of victims with injuries and say the accident remains under investigation. That stretch of Interstate 80 has since reopened.
