Missing Wellsville man found dead

Wellsville Police have announced that 24-year-old Zane Carter has been found dead.

Carter's body was located around 7:30 on Thursday night in a small wooded area across from Sterling China Company. The lot on 12th Street and White Street is owned by the village school district.

Police say they had searched that area multiple times before. Even the use of cadaver dogs yielded no results earlier this week.

Investigators say evidence has led them to believe that it was a drug overdose, however there will be an official autopsy later this week.

Carter was declared missing nearly two weeks ago.

There haven't been arrests made in connection with Carter's death.

Police say the main goal was to find Carter and provide closure to his family.

Lieutenant Wilson of Wellsville police said he will have to decide with the prosecutor how to proceed. Wilson said any arrests or charges will be handled at a later date.
