Campbell police have fired their former school resource officer following a nine month investigation.
Authorities say the firing of officer Russell Beatty, III involves a "very unfortunate set of circumstances."
Officials said an investigation by Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) revealed some "very poor choices" relating to his time as the school's resource officer with the district.
In December, Beatty was accused of violating school board policy that states a staff member shall not associate or fraternize with students at any time that may give the appearance of impropriety. However, it is "very clear" that the investigation by the BCI resulted in no findings of criminal conduct.
Police said the student in question was a family friend.
"There was absolutely no findings of him having a contact or conduct with of inappropriate nature with any student what so ever," said Lt. John Rusnak, with the Campbell Police Department.
However, police said that regardless of what a "dutiful" officer he was, they have determined Beatty is no longer a good fit for the Campbell Police Department.
