Browns unveil new logo, Valley fans have mixed reviews

The Cleveland Browns enter a new era with a new team logo.

Fans reacted to the hype after seeing their first glimpse of the updated orange, brown and white helmet that doesn't look too different compared to the old one.

While some are excited, local Browns backers aren't overly impressed.

"Especially since the change is so minimal," Zina Hill said, president of Y-Town Dawgs browns backer fan club. "It's like why get excited about one little marking on a helmet or one little twist of a dog's face. Let's get excited about who we're going to get, what players we can get," Hill said.

It's the 30th anniversary of the Dog Pound and the team is unleashing a feistier dog pound pup logo, too. The Browns wanted to promote the dog pound tradition to honor the team's fan base.

New logos means new merchandise, and getting your hands on it means you might have to wait.

Sports Obsession at the Eastwood Mall could begin taking pre-orders in the coming weeks.

"Normally you'll get like a jersey or two out, one of the big players just to give people an idea of what they're looking for," Jason Kasiewicz said, store manager.

The t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and team winter gear will follow. Vendors typically approach apparel retailers soon after a new logo launch. Kasiewicz expects all new Browns gear to arrive within the next six months. The Cleveland Browns official team shop at FirstEnergy Stadium doesn't expect to have any new merchandise for sale for at least the next two weeks.

Unless you have something autographed by a former star player, traditional Browns gear isn't expected to go up in value.

If the logos aren't exciting, Browns fans have April 15 to look forward to, when the team reveals the new uniforms.
