Two days after being fired as chief deputy auditor for Mahoning county, Carol McFall speaks out in her own defense.

Walking through the same door she used during nine years in the auditors office McFall on Friday addressed the local media in the rotunda of the county courthouse.

"I don't believe I have done anything wrong," McFall told reporters.

Auditor Ralph Meacham dismissed McFall for not providing full disclosure in a public records request regarding bonuses and raises granted by ousted auditor Mike Sciortino before he left office. Meacham says the documents provided by McFall had been redacted and excluded bonus payments.

"I redacted the documents to provide the Vindicator with the information they requested and nothing more," said McFall.

"Meacham says there should have been nothing less than a full disclosure. "I don't see how you glaze over $28,000 in bonuses and not think that's important," said Meacham.

McFall says she is proud of her work and record in the auditors office and thinks other factors may be in play.

"I am the collateral damage of politics as usual," McFall said.

Upon hearing that, Meacham's response was."I'm anything but politics as usual.

Meacham did disclose that the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) removed Carol Mcfall's computer on Thursday.

Said Meacham, "I am not an attorney, but I understand her actions in changing those documents, official records, is not proper and there may be some legal issues involved in that."

When asked if she is concerned about possible charges of tampering with records McFall said no she is not. She concluded her news conference by saying,

"I worked hard for the taxpayers, I leave here with my head held high."
