A man suspected of robbing an East Liverpool convenience store didn't get too far after running into the chief of another police department.
The woman working at Gilkison's Short Stop on Avondale Street told police just after 1 pm Tuesday that she had been robbed by a man wearing a bandana.
The officer spotted a man fitting the description of the robber on St. Clair Avenue.
During the search, the suspect was spotted near a wooded area on Valley View Street by Liverpool Township Police Chief Jayson Jackson who made the arrest.
Police charged Patrick Lattanzio with aggravated robbery and falsification.
Investigators say they found a butter knife allegedly used in the robbery behind the counter of the store.
The East Liverpool Police Department's Facebook page says that a private citizen intervened and fought the suspect. However, the police report makes no mention of a private citizen being involved.
