Youngstown man accused of trafficking 15-year-old girl
Authorities have made another arrest in their crackdown on human trafficking in the Mahoning Valley. Authorities say the victim was a fifteen-year-old girl.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - It's the first case of its kind related to human trafficking in Mahoning County.
We've told you about people charged with human trafficking in the past, but in this case, the suspect is being accused of prostituting a teen girl against her will.
David Kalna, 37, of Youngstown is arrested after a secret indictment was issued by a grand jury and is being held in the Mahoning County Jail on a $100,000 bond. In this case, he's accused of alleged sex trafficking a 15-year-old girl.
What makes this case different is that at least one young girl was held against her will, like a slave, for the purpose of sex for hire.
This is not the lower level prostitution that is sometimes also associated with human trafficking.
Attorney Matt Donahue is the Chief of the Special Prosecution Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office. He could not talk specifically about any one case but did talk about what human trafficking is really about. "The main thing in a human trafficking situation, the person is not able to exercise their own free will and take control of themselves," Donahue said.
Kalna faces two counts of trafficking in persons and compelling prostitution. His bond is set at $100,000. Prosecutors say the crimes occurred between March of 2015 and January of this year.
According to the language in the court filing, the victim was allegedly subjected to "involuntary servitude" and it was "for the purpose to engage in sexual activity for hire."
Donahue says the victims of human trafficking are often threatened. "What is important to understand is that shackles that bind in human trafficking are often invisible," he said.
The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force in Youngstown warned local police to be on the lookout for Kalna, and he was spotted in his car on the West Side of the city near his home.
The victim in the case is now 18.
