Muscle Connection H.S.Football Preview: Boardman Spartans

The Boardman football team is coming off a playoff year and are hoping for bigger and better things.

They have five returning starters on offense led by three-year quarterback Michael O'Horo. 

"We really lean on him to be a leader, both vocally and what we do on offensively," said coach Joe Ignazio, now in his sixth season leading the Spartans.

"We're also counting on him to play on defense as well because he's a pretty good defensive back," Ignazio said in reference to O'Horo.

Up front, the Spartans have some experienced lineman in Tino Arcuri, who had 17 tackles for loss in 2017 and Alex Huzicka who'll play tight end and defensive end.

"Kareem Hamdan is back at inside linebacker and was second-team all-state. He's got the heart of a lion and is our motor on defense, " said Ignazio adding Mike Fetsko, Ceaonne Jones, and Joe Ieraci are all back in the secondary as well.

The Spartans host East week one.
