Prima Healthcare becomes part of Mercy Health

Mercy Health announced on Monday that more doctors have become associated with the health care system.

A media release says that the region’s largest independent physician practice, Prima Healthcare has officially become part of Mercy Health, Youngstown – the region’s largest health care system.

According to the release the partnership will give patients optimized coordination of care, enhanced communication, and more choice when it comes to choosing a physician.

Prima Healthcare currently cares for patients in southern Mahoning and Columbiana counties through offices in Boardman, Columbiana, and Salem.

“This is truly a landmark day for health care in the Valley,” said Prima founder Dr. Steven DeMaiolo. “Both Mercy Health and Prima Healthcare have long been considered leaders in the regional healthcare space – combining the best of both organizations will allow us to collectively deliver the highest level of care to our patients and the communities that we serve.”

Mercy Health has care facilities in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties.
