Fans lined the sidewalk early Sunday morning at Arrowhead Stadium to welcome the Girard High School football team home following the state championship game.
Despite the loss to Cincinnati Wyoming, fans say they're extremely proud of the team and how far they managed to go this year.
They waited outside the stadium for the bus carrying the team to pull in around 1:30 am Sunday morning. The players were greeted with cheers and applause from the crowd.
The football team fell short in their bid to bring home a state championship. Cincinnati Wyoming knocked off the Indians 42-14 to finish with a perfect season at 15-0.
Girard ended the season with a 13-2 record.
