What started as lunch more than a year ago, resulted in Akron and Youngstown State playing football again.
"Jim Tressel is very persuasive," recalled Larry Williams, Akron's athletic director in meeting with the President at an Akron restaurant.
"I heard a lot of stories from a lot of people of when Akron and YSU played football," recalled Williams, who's been the director of athletics for the Zips for three and a half years.
"Ron (Strollo) was great about it, and for now it's just for one year," said Williams.
"We're open to continuing if after the one year," Williams said. Adding Akron won't play at YSU due to rules in Mid American Conference playing at FCS schools.
According to Williams, Youngstown State will receive "in the ballpark of $300,000" for the game but did not have the exact amount.
"The buzz in Akron has been great since we announced, the game " he concluded.
