The Youngstown City School District celebrated the bonds between fathers and daughters Friday night.

The dance at East High School is just one of the dances taking place this month for children to have a special night with their parent.

"It's an opportunity for little girls to get dressed up and enjoy an evening with their fathers and for fathers to show their little girls a fun evening out," said Linda Hoey, YCSD's chief of family engagement. "It will be a fun night."

There is a mother-son dance March 29 at Chaney High school.

Like the father-daughter event, the mother-son evening is free and open to boys district-wide and their mothers or mother figures. The occasion includes dinner, a DJ and dancing. RSVPs should be made to the child's school.

Friday night's event invited girls from across the district to have dinner with their dad, dance and enjoy a fun and free evening.
