Large periodic table installed in Ward Beecher Hall at YSU

A large periodic table is the newest fixture of Ward Beecher Science Hall on the Youngstown State Campus.

The new table includes samples of each of the 118 elements.

The periodic table can be found in the student lounge area on the west side of Ward Beecher Hall.

The display cabinet was given to YSU by an anonymous donor with arrangements made by Ray Beiersdorfer.

Beiersdorfer was a professor of environmental and geological sciences at YSU until his unexpected death in October.

The cabinet was designed and fabricated by Marcos Polomo of Spain, who was on campus to install the periodic table along with Andrew Goodall, a chemistry elements specialist with RGB Research Ltd. in London.

Goodall and Polomo spent four days assembling the cabinet at YSU.

Only about 15 other periodic tables like YSU's are installed in the United States.
