A Warren G. Harding student has passed away following an ATV accident Friday night.
Jeremiah Barnes, 17, passed away after the accident along Parkwood Drive around 7:30 p.m.
Dispatchers say another person was taken to the hospital.
It's unclear what their condition is or who was driving.
Warren's Mayor Doug Franklin took to Facebook to say words cannot express the sense of loss that him and the community feel.
Warren G. Harding High School Principal Dante Capers released the following statement:
"Our hearts are saddened by the untimely and tragic loss of Jeremiah Barnes. Jeremiah was a vibrant member of the Warren G. Harding High School Community. He will be remembered as uplifting, friendly, positive, and always looking to lend a helping hand. Jeremiah was a member of the WGH Madrigal Chorus, student manager of the boys’ basketball team, and generally supported the school and fellow students in any way he could. Our thoughts will continue to be with his family at this difficult time."
Grief counselors will be available Sunday, June 23, at the high school from 4 to 6 p.m. to provide support to students.
Jeremiah would have been a senior this coming school year.
