Authorities in Michigan report that just after eight this morning they found the body of the Youngstown man they believe drowned while swimming in a local lake.

The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office tells 21 News that they had been searching since Friday for 23-year-old Darius Amir Sanders who jumped from a pontoon boat on Wampler’s Lake in Cambridge Township, Michigan.

One of the four other people who were on the boat at the time told authorities that they jumped into the water when Sanders appeared to be in distress. The witness said that by the time they reached the area where Sanders went under the water, they were unable to find him.

Lenawee County Sheriff’s Deputies and other first responders were unable to locate Sanders.

Search efforts by the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Marine Unit and Dive Team and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Dive Team were scheduled to resume at 8 a.m. Sunday, at which time they located his body.

According to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Wamplers Lake is an 800-acre recreational lake about 50 miles northwest of Toledo, Ohio
