A new traffic pattern is in place on East State Street in Hermitage.

According to a press release from PennDOT, East State Street has been reduced to two lanes with a center turning lane.

The roadway was changed from its original five lanes in response to recommendations made in the State Street/Irvine Avenue Business Corridor Study.

Officials hope the change will be a calming traffic measure and will reduce crashes and improve pedestrian safety.
