Campbell High School student arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats

Campbell police arrested a Campbell Memorial High School student after he was accused of threatening to shoot up the school. 

The 15-year-old student is accused of telling other students that he was going to be the "next school shooter." 

Students told school officials about the threat made. 

School officials told the school resource officer who then arrested the 15-year-old student for making such comments. 

Police say the suspect admitted to school officials that he said he was going to be the next school shooter.  

According to the report, the suspect stated that he "was stupid" and did not know why he would have made such comments. 

The 15-year-old student is being charged with inducing panic and making a terroristic threat. Both charges are felonies. 

The student is currently being held at the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center. 

Campbell City Schools Superintendent Matthew Bowden issued this statement: 

The Campbell City Schools promptly and swiftly address behaviors which may adversely affect the wellness and safety of its students.  The Campbell administration quickly responds to any and all threat allegations and report such behaviors to authorities.  

Respectfully, it would not be prudent to discuss details of this single ongoing investigation involving a student.  Processes and procedures must be followed prior to potential disciplinary action being taken.

The student is currently serving a 10-day out of school suspension with a recommended expulsion hearing.
