A Trumbull County organization that delivers food to shut-ins, the elderly and other homebound people needs volunteers.

Trumbull Mobile Meals has put out the call for 40 to 50 volunteer packers to help pack cold and hot meals Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a. The facility is located in downtown Warren.

TMM Director Becky Edwards tells 21 News that volunteers are needed to replace some of those who worked at their Warren facility for the summer, many of whom are students and teachers now returning to school.

Edwards says there are two categories of packers. Cold Packers place food such as fruit, salad, applesauce, and Jello in cups. Cold Packers volunteer from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Hot Packers, who work for an hour or so beginning at 9:30 each morning, place hot foods in trays before they are delivered to more than 224 homes.

Anyone who has a few hours to spare once a week, or even just once a month may contact Volunteer Coordinator Terri Dean at 330-394-2538.
