Billed as the “State Fair of Street Fairs,” the 133rd annual Columbiana Street Fair gets underway Thursday for a three-day run.
Considered the second-largest street fair in Ohio and a top attraction for concessionaires in the tri-state area, as many as 40,000 people have visited the fair in year's past to sample the food, fun, rides, and entertainment in the heart of Columbiana.
The annual Columbiana Street Fair Parade steps off at 6:15 p.m. Thursday lead by the Columbiana American Legion Post 290 Color Guard. The American Legion is the sponsor of the fair.
Dozens of veteran, civic, volunteer and church organizations will march in the parade. Several area fire departments will be showing off their newest engines as well.
For the car enthusiast, nearly 100 classic cars line up near East Park and North Main Street to take part in the parade.
Friday at noon the fair and several volunteers play host to a private event only for special needs. The American Legion provides a free lunch and unlimited rides at no charge. The group of children taking part has grown to well over a hundred over the past 30 years.
This year's fair entertainment will be at B&B Garden Of Eatin lot on South Main, across from Birdfish and Bingo.
