UPDATE: Harding Raiders will not wear camo jerseys in Howland game

The Warren Harding Raiders will not be wearing camouflage jerseys when they take on the Howland Tigers as reported earlier by the Ohio National Guard.

21 News reported on Thursday that it had received an email from the Ohio National Guard that Harding's football game would wear special camouflage jerseys during a military appreciation football game during the November 11th away game at Howland.

Although the dark camouflage pattern Jerseys and have been approved by the Ohio High School Athletic Association for other teams around the state, Warren Schools Athletic Director Bill Nicholson told 21 News that no one from the National Guard made arrangements with him for the team to wear the jerseys.

Nicholson says the home teams in Ohio high school games traditionally wear dark colors and the visiting team wears the lighter colored uniforms.

The athletic director said that Harding's coach discussed possibly taking part in a military appreciation game when the team recently spent a day at boot camp at Camp Garfield, but nothing was finalized.

A National Guard spokesperson tells 21 News they are still working with Warren Schools to organize a military appreciation home game.

The Operation Buckeye Guard program was initiated through a partnership with the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.
