The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley announce the teachers who will receive grant money from their Autism Teacher Mini-Grant Program.

The program awarded $850 total to three area special education teachers to help them expand student accommodations in their classrooms.

The first-place winner, Holly Fay of Austintown Local Schools, Lighthouse Unit Teacher K-2, will receive $500 for use on a laminator and laminating supplies for the classroom.

The second-place winner, Kimberly MacDonald of Fairhaven Schools, will receive $250 for her project Travel Buddies, that will include communication books, boards, and pouches to trave with students outside of school.

The third-place winner, Kayla Dickason-Welsh of the Hubbard Exempted Village School District/Hubbard High School, will receive $100 for flexible seating and items for a cooking lab for students.

The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley revived this project two years ago to show appreciation and support the great teachers in the Valley who help children and teens on the autism spectrum.

The 2019 title sponsors for the organization are Columbiana Chrysler Jeep Dodge & RAM Trucks & Greenwood Chevrolet of Austintown.
