A Youngstown man convicted of murder has been sentenced.

Corey Phillips was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Monday.

Phillips was convicted of first-degree murder by a jury in June.

"Justice was served today as this defendant was held accountable for ending Jahmia Ward's life, and he will spend the rest of his life in prison," said Attorney General Josh Shapiro.

Phillips had been held without bond since October 2014.
