Southington resident's gas services may be saved
Dozens of Southington Township resident's natural gas services may be saved after it was announced service could be shut off in September.
Back in July, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) filed a complaint that One Source Energy LLC had not been following state laws.
One Source is based in Niles, and at least 89 customers in the township use its services, and they may not be able to switch to another company.
"Unfortunately, the Public Utilities Commission doesn't have the authority, or a means to necessarily direct another utility to come in and step in and take over the system," said Matt Shilling, Director of Public Affairs for PUCO.
We spoke to Schilling on Wednesday who said gas for One Source customers is not shut off at the moment.
Documents filed before the PUCO show that Northeast Ohio Natural Gas Corp. (NEO) is trying to purchase One Source's assets. An extension date of September 13 has been requested since NEO has reached a tentative purchase with One Source, according to the documents.
The extension was requested to complete a "seamless transition without interruption of customer service," the documents state.
