Penn Power warns against scams
Penn Power sent out an email Wednesday afternoon warning customers about two potential scams in the Mercer County area over the past few weeks.
The first scam is a phone call offering customers 40 percent off their bill. The caller id for the scam shows 800-720-3600, the actual Penn Power service number, but it is not the company.
The second scam involves individuals going door to door offering surge protection. Penn Power reports that they don't have employees go door to door selling or offering products. Customers are urged not to accept anything or sign up for anything.
Penn Power says that their employees will always be in a marked company vehicle and be wearing a photo ID.
Those with questions can call 1-800-720-3600.
