A 14-year-old Girard student was arrested Thursday after he allegedly threatened to "shoot up" the high school.

Girard police say they became involved after another student reported that the suspect had a hit list and a hidden weapon in his backpack.

The teen allegedly told the student who reported the threat, "I want to shoot up Girard because the school has a hatred for me." Then listed a specific teacher and six students he would target, according to a police report.

The police report also said that the suspect had multiple guns and "his plan is to get the school into lockdown, and since he knows the drills to afterward go where some of the classes hide."

Police interviewed the teen who they say told them, "I put a gun in a book bag. I had a gun in a book bag for school. Packed it up for a few weeks," according to the report.

Police said the suspect told them he made the comments after being asked who he would kill if he were to kill someone.

He also allegedly told police he obtained the gun from his brother last year and kept it in a book bag at home, but didn't bring it to school and that his brother took the weapon back last year, according to the report.

The suspect was taken into police custody and faces a charge of inducing panic.

A court date is pending.
