The CEO of Youngstown City Schools started a new effort today to reach out to the community and keep them updated on the district.

Justin Jennings kicked off what will be monthly meetings to keep people updated on the district's efforts to improve city schools.

Jennings said he wants to hear from the community on what needs to be improved and that the meetings are all about getting everyone on the same page.

"It's really about getting everyone together to move forward. We spent a lot of time spinning our heels, hating each other being mad at each other. Being mad at House Bill 70 being mad at house bill whatever, but I think now is the time for us to understand that we only can do this together," Jennings said.

The district will be focusing on literacy to improve the "F" rating.

The meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month.
