The trial has been delayed for a former school superintendent accused of having sex with a student as she continues working towards a potential plea deal with the prosecutor.

Thirty-five-year-old Laura Amero is accused of having sex with one student and attempting to have sex with another.

Amero was indicted by a Portage County Grand Jury for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old male in 2017. She's also accused of attempting to have sex with another male student between 2015 and 2017 while a principal in the Windham District.

During a court appearance on Thursday, it was determined that her trial set for next week would be continued until another date. The judge in the case told lawyers that no further continuances would be granted.

Amero previously taught at Western Reserve and Campbell Schools.

The Windham Board of Education suspended Amero without pay in April. She later resigned.

Amero faces two counts of sexual battery and attempted sexual battery along with one count of intimidation of a witness.
